The School of Specialization in Health Psychology celebrated its twentieth anniversary in 2018. It was established in 1998 with the aim of re-launching the theme of health and proposing a paradigm shift that, until then, had been strongly oriented towards exploring and treating "illness." The School's objective is to train professionals who view individuals and society as possessing resources and potential rather than pathologies or defects. These professionals aim to study the sources of well-being instead of those of ill-being, to "promote" health rather than "prevent" or "cure" illness. These premises have solid cultural roots within a scientific world that, despite many advances in recent years, still struggles and lags in taking precise responsibility for this shift, which is now visibly present in societal demand. In accepting this challenge and seeking to stimulate and promote discussion on the topic of health, it is essential to be open to interdisciplinary dialogue with all health professionals and with anyone interested in discussing it, thereby creating opportunities to discover and explore ever-new horizons. Pursuant to Ministerial Decree 24 July 2006 (Reorganization of Specialization Schools in the Psychological Area) and subsequent amendments, the School awards the title of SPECIALIST IN HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY AND QUALIFIES FOR THE EXERCISE OF PSYCHOTHERAPY.
Note: On January 21, 2019, the new decree for the "Reorganization of Specialization Schools in the Psychological Area" was published. Article 2 of this decree reduces the duration of courses from five to four years (for a total of 240 ECTS credits). Those who enroll in the academic year 2019/2020 will be able to request a reduction in the course duration, as per the decree.
